This Privacy Policy explains how the Ringkesin browser extension ("Ringkesin," "the extension") handles data. Ringkesin turns spoken conversations into live text transcripts and AI-generated summaries. It is built to be privacy-respecting by design: it runs mostly on your device, stores your data locally, and does not include advertising, tracking, analytics, or any developer-run server.
Key points at a glance
• No accounts, no login. The extension has no signup and no developer backend.
• Your data stays on your device (transcript, summary, and settings — including your API key — are saved locally in your browser, not synced to any cloud account).
• You choose where data goes. Audio is processed by your browser's speech service; summaries are sent only to the AI provider you select, or run entirely on your own machine with Ollama.
• We do not sell or share your data. The developer never sees your transcripts, summaries, or API keys.
When you use Ringkesin, the following data may exist:
The extension does not collect your name, email, location, browsing history, or any personally identifying information, and it does not create user profiles.
All of your data — transcript, summary, settings, and API key — is stored locally on your device using your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). It is deliberately not synced to your Google account or any cloud account. The developer has no server that stores your data.
You can erase the transcript and summary at any time using the "Clear" button inside the extension. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
Ringkesin sends data to third parties only to perform the features you requested, and only to the services you choose. It never routes your data through a server controlled by the developer.
Live transcription uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Depending on your browser, this service may process your audio on remote servers operated by the browser vendor (for example, Google). This is why transcription requires an internet connection. The resulting transcript text is then stored locally on your device.
To generate a summary, the transcript text is sent to the AI provider you select in Settings. You may use any of the following, and you can change or clear your choice at any time:

Each third-party provider is an independent controller of any data you send to it. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Your choices determine your data flow. If you want fully offline summarization, select Ollama in Settings. If you select a cloud provider, only your transcript (and your own API key, for authentication) is sent to that provider.
Ringkesin requests the minimum permissions needed to function, each tied to a specific feature:

The extension does not read, collect, or transmit page content or browsing history.Ringkesin is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data you'd like removed, uninstall the extension and contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the extension or for legal reasons. The "Effective date" at the top will be revised accordingly. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version of the extension or this document.
